1991 Shelby Can-Am

This is chassis #040, raced in the SCCA/Shelby CAN AM series from 1991 thru 1996. The last on-track appearance was 2013, according to the official logbook. The car has the original Shelby seals on the engine. The Weismann transaxle has been completely disassembled and machined to accept a limited slip differential to replace the original spool that was installed in all cars during the racing series. This modification drastically improves the handling and lap times, according to Mike Davies, SCCA’s current Technical Director and two time series champion during 1991 and 1996. In addition to transaxle modification and rebuild, the chassis was totally dismantled, inspected and reassembled with MS/AN fasteners, Aurora rod ends and spherical bearings, all Tilton master cylinders replaced or rebuild kits installed. The “1992 Marlboro” livery was chosen for the new, lightweight body panels as a tribute to four time Indianapolis 500 Winner, Rick Mears.

Numerous spare parts and shop equipment will be transferred to the new owner, along with all original assembly, transmission and update manuals, including the original logbook. A detailed list will be provided to serious buyers.
